Stock Photo - 17 May 2023, Rhineland-Palatinate, Trier: The Ada Gospels with its magnificent binding is in the treasury of the Trier City Library. It forms the leading manuscript of Charlemagne's court school. The precious illuminated manuscripts are around 1200 years old. Most contain the Latin text of the four Gospels, written in gold ink and decorated with elaborate portraits of the evangelists. In 1499, the Maximiner Abbot Otto von Elten had the magnificent volume rebound. At present, Unesco from Paris is deciding whether the Ada Gospels will be named a Unesco World Documentary Heritage.
