Stock Photo - 17 September 2020, Saxony-Anhalt, Latdorf: The country road L73 seems to end at the wall of a lime pond. During a landslide in 2012 the road was washed over, then closed, a bypass was built and the fallow land was used to create another lime pond. The settling ponds, which cover several hectares, are used to treat production wastewater from soda production. In the process, lime and residues settle, the purified water flows into the Saale river. The sediments cause the hills to grow steadily.
