Stock Photo - 18 February 2019, Brandenburg, Lebus: Two bright yellow Adonisheröschen bloom on the Oder slopes in the Märkisch-Oderland district. An empty snail shell lies next to the two flowers. A lot of sun and mild temperatures of the last days have led to the blooming of the first Adonisheröschen especially early this year. The area between Lebus an der Oder and Mallnow am Oderbruchrand in East Brandenburg is one of the largest contiguous areas of Adonisheröschen in Europe. In Brandenburg, these strictly protected types occur only at the Pontischen slopes north of Frankfurt (Oder). For the poisonous flowers, the area was declared a dry grassland nature reserve in 1984.
