The St. John's riding is part of the St. John's festival in the Sorbian-Wendish catchment area, which is rarely celebrated today. The girls from the Drebkauer district Casel had already picked cornflowers from the surrounding fields one day before. Hundreds of these flowers are needed. The girls weave about 45 tendrils from the cornflowers, each 1.5 meters long. John receives a cloak made of cornflowers, water lilies, rushes and vetches. With his crown on, he mounts his horse. The attendants pick him up on horseback in the village. With brass band music the procession moves to the riding place, where then courageous women and men try to get Johann from his horse while riding and tear off the flower decoration.
