On the same day, the replacement new construction of the intake structure at Oder kilometre 681.5 near Stützkow in the Lower Oder Valley National Park, which was built for around 6.6 million euros, was opened for the first time. The intake structure is part of the complex system of receiving waters, dry and flood polders, intake and outlet structures and pumping stations in the Lower Oder Valley. By opening the inlet structure, every year at the beginning of the winter half-year, the polder A/B is flooded. In spring, the structure is closed again so that grassland can be cultivated in the summer months. During summer floods, the polders can be flooded to protect the villages along the valley.
