Stock Photo - 19 May 2022, Saxony-Anhalt, Neuwegersleben: Henning Fuchs of the ""Interessengemeinschaft Optische Telegrafie in Preussen"" holds the telescope in the ""Königlich-Preussische Optische Telegrafiestation Nr. 18"". The telegraph station is a technical monument and is located on the 98 meter high Keutenberg. The building was one of 62 telegraph stations that went into operation between Berlin and Koblenz in 1832. The 587-kilometer-long communications link connected the Prussian heartland with the Rhine Province and the Province of Westphalia. The messages were transmitted by different positions of the signal wings, which were attached to a mast on three levels. Due to the different settings of the wings on the three levels, 4096 character combinations could be set. Photo: Klaus-Dietmar Gabbert/dpa. - Neuwegersleben/Saxony-Anhalt/Germany
