Stock Photo - 20 August 2019, Saxony-Anhalt, Laucha: Martin Gurks, the main protection keeper of the Freyburg Winegrowers' Association, tests Pinot Gris grapes in Dorndorf's Rappental as part of the Bonitur. Since Monday, up to four Bonitur groups have been on the move in the facilities of the Winzervereinigung Freyburg. Approximately 400 hectares of vineyards are assessed. Among other things, the commissions focus on the height of the leaves, the number of grapes and the number of shoots. So far, the weather has had an unfavourable effect on the growing vintage, but a lot of sunshine but little rain leads to severe cuts in the expected harvest. In some cases, the winegrowers use additional irrigation to counter the drought. The winegrowers' association expects about two million litres of wine this year.
