The Jagdhausalm, situated at an altitude of 2009 metres, was first mentioned in a document in 1212 as ""six farms"". The Defereggen valley lies in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The valley is surrounded by mountains of the Deferegg mountains, the Rieserferner group, the Lasörling group and the Schober group.
