Stock Photo - 20 May 2022, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Peenemünde: The staircase to the permanent exhibition in the former power plant on the grounds of the Peenemünde Historical-Technical Museum. From 1936 to 1945, the Peenemünde testing facilities were the largest military research center in Europe. Covering an area of 25 square kilometers, up to 12,000 people worked simultaneously on novel weapons systems, such as the world's first cruise missile and the first functioning large rocket. The Historisch-Technisches Museum Peenemünde works through the history of the creation and use of these weapons. Photo: Jens Büttner/dpa. - Peenemünde/Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania/Germany
