Stock Photo - 21 February 2019, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Sassnitz: A pile of wood lies in the Jasmund National Park. Trees are felled in the Jasmund National Park along the 303 between Sassnitz and Hagen. On both sides of the road, beech, ash and maple as well as spruce, larch and Douglas fir are taken from the approximately seven-kilometre stretch of road. In total, the forest will be cut down to about 40 hectares. According to the forester, the logs are sold so that part of the costs can be recovered. According to the National Park Authority, trees will also have to be felled along the roads in the protected area in the coming years.
