Two doctors transplanted new hearts into the identical twins Jamie and Killian three days apart on 21 and 24 February. Both boys were diagnosed with a genetic defect in the summer of 2020: DMC, dilated cardiomyopathy. In this case, a change in the heart muscle and the interspersion with scar tissue cause the heart cavities to dilate. The result is a reduction in the efficiency of the heart.
