In GDR times, the painter, graphic artist and sculptor fought for artistic freedom and rejected socialist realism. He was a member of the ""Clara Mosch"" group, which took up taboo subjects such as environmental protection and lack of freedom. Works by him can be found in the Sprengel Museum, the Chemnitz Art Collections, the Meissen Cathedral, the Hermitage and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, among others.
