Stock Photo - 23 April 2022, Brandenburg, Schlieben: Dietmar Woidke (SPD), Minister President of Brandenburg, speaks in front of the Schlieben-Berga subcamp memorial during an event marking the 77th anniversary of the liberation of concentration camps in Brandenburg. The camp was administered by the SS since July 1944 and was the third largest subcamp under the Buchenwald concentration camp. Prisoners of war and concentration camp inmates had to produce mainly bazookas on behalf of the Leipzig armaments company Hugo Schneider AG (HASAG) on the approximately 500-hectare site. Today, there are still ruins of the bazooka production facility, which was dismantled after the end of the war, twelve largely preserved bunkers, and the guard and administration barracks.
