The shot animals are put on distance according to old custom. The hunting months of November and December are the hunter's main harvest months. Drift and bolt hunts take place now in many places. In the Upper Harz, mainly red deer are hunted, but wild boar are also increasingly hunted. With the Stöberjagd mainly trained Stöberhunde and also drivers are used.
