Stock Photo - 24 April 2020, Saxony-Anhalt, Lutherstadt Wittenberg: Axel Schonert from the company Biotopmanagement Schonert demonstrates his technique for catching reptiles. His company has been commissioned to catch at least 50 specimens of the strictly protected sand lizard (Lacerta agilis) by the end of May 2020 in a 2-hectare property and to settle them in a nearby, newly created biotope. Residential houses are to be built on the current site. The replacement habitat for the sand lizard will also create new habitats for various flowering plants and numerous animal species.
