The lower reaches of the Emscher had already experienced major problems with flood protection on Friday after the heavy storms. The dike had eroded for hundreds of meters, the Ministry of the Environment announced. The Emschergenossenschaft sees no danger that the railroad bridge near Dinslaken, which has started to slide, could dam up the river and cause flooding in the surrounding areas.
