Stock Photo - 24 March 2023, Brandenburg, Neuzelle: Ralf Mainz, master gardener at the Neuzelle Abbey Foundation, is busy repotting a dwarf bitter orange plant in the orangery of the monastery garden. About 120 potted plants overwinter in the orangery building. The orange, lemon and bay trees will be placed back in the outdoor areas of the monastery garden in mid-May. Neuzelle Monastery, about ten kilometers south of Eisenhüttenstadt, is the only Cistercian monastery in Brandenburg that has been preserved in its entirety, including the grounds, and is one of the few undestroyed monastery complexes in Germany and Europe.
