Stock Photo - 24 October 2023, Saxony, Zwickau: A marker sticks to a wall above a pavement on an excavation field at the local court in Zwickau. Right at the beginning of the excavation, which lasted about a month, the archaeologists came across foundation walls of a small building constructed of quarry stone and bricks. Around the house, a well-preserved pavement of round river stones was uncovered. Most of the findings date back to the 19th century. On the area formerly situated in front of the town there used to be a hospital. It is still unclear whether the finds are connected with this hospital. An extension of the district court is to be built on the approximately 800 square meter investigation area. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa. - Zwickau/Saxony/Germany
