Stock Photo - 26 July 2021, Brandenburg, Bad Belzig: View from Eisenhardt Castle of the houses in the town centre and the tower of St. Mary's Church. The Romanesque hall church was built in the second half of the 13th century and is now home to the Brandenburg Organ Museum. The well-preserved castle complex on the outskirts of the town is a landmark of the town that can be seen from afar. First mentioned in a document in 997 by Emperor Otto III as burgwardium belizi, the castle had probably been founded a hundred years earlier by an Elbslav tribe. The name was an expression of the wish for the castle to be hard against iron and impregnable. Today there is a museum of local history in the gatehouse, and from the castle tower there is a beautiful view of the town and the Fläming region.
