The Leißnitz ferry has a long tradition. Forgotten for many decades, it was rediscovered in 1999 and now takes cyclists and hikers across the Spree south of the district capital Beeskow. Since the year 2012 Maik Slotta is ferryman here. Every year, Slotta takes about 7500 passengers across the Spree, which is about 120 meters wide at this point.
