Around 2.6 million euros have been invested in ""the new flagship"" of the historic facility, which is also an educational and forestry training center. The beginnings of today's Moritzburg game preserve go back to a hunting preserve in the 16th century, mainly to supply the electoral kitchen with fresh game. Since the late 1950s, the preserve has belonged to the state forest.
