The Nazis already had this in mind with their gigantic KdF seaside resort. The Nazi organization Kraft durch Freude (KdF) planned a seaside resort for 20,000 people in the 1930s. It remained unfinished, vacationers never got there. With the beginning of the war in 1939 the construction work was stopped and the buildings were used for other purposes.
