Stock Photo - 27 May 2020, Lower Saxony, Hildesheim: The ""1000 year old rosebush"" is blooming at the Hildesheim cathedral (l) next to a cloister. The wild hedge rose at the church wall is in full bloom these days. According to the tradition a son of Charlemagne had not been able to free a reliquary from the roses during a rest around 815. Therefore he had a chapel built on the site, later the cathedral was built. In fact, according to recent research, the rosebush is at most 700 years old.
