Until sunrise, the animal rescuers search for small fawns lying in the grass with their aircraft. The Wild Animal Aid Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has called on farmers to make more use of the possibility of rescuing fawn by drone. It is estimated that every year in the northeast alone, some 26,000 fawns are killed during mowing operations. With the drones, the members of Wild Animal Aid last year discovered 146 roe deer fawns on almost 1,000 hectares and protected them from the grassland mowing that was deadly for them.
