Stock Photo - 27 September 2018, Brandenburg, Mescherin: Sunset in the polder area at the Westoder. In the lower Oder valley there is one of the largest crane sleeping places of the inland. Up to 15,000 of the majestic birds spend the night in the Polish Zwischenoderland, an unspoilt river meadow landscape between West and East Or. Every year, when autumn approaches, thousands of cranes move to their sleeping places on the Oder in the early evening hours. During the day they searched the fields for food, especially on the harvested maize fields in the surrounding area. Now their goal is a well protected sleeping place in the inaccessible polder waters between East and West Oder. From 28 September to 07 October, the city of Gartz (Oder) celebrates its 13th International Crane Week. Photo: Patrick Pleul/dpa-Zentralbild/dpa. - Mescherin/Brandenburg/Germany
