This widespread bag had been sold to schoolchildren in the GDR for 10 pfennigs and was often used to transport wet bathing suits. Luchs, an 83-year-old collector, is displaying a total of 120 plastic bags in the underground concrete building in a forest near Wismar. For decades, the trained typesetter has been collecting the bags with motifs of FDJ meetings, the GDR People's Police or advertising graphics for East German companies and will be presenting part of his collection to interested visitors in the 140-square-meter bunker on Pentecost Sunday. The bunker building from the 1960s, which served as the operational headquarters of the Wismar district council in times of crisis, was auctioned off and extensively renovated in 2004.
