Stock Photo - 28 May 2023, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Zurow: In a former GDR bunker, parts of the unique collection of GDR shopping bags are on display in an exhibition. Luchs, an 83-year-old collector, is exhibiting a total of 120 plastic bags in the underground concrete building in a forest near Wismar. For decades, the trained typesetter has been collecting the bags with motifs of FDJ meetings, the GDR People's Police or even advertising graphics for East German companies and will be presenting part of his collection to interested visitors in the 140-square-meter bunker on Pentecost Sunday. The bunker building from the 1960s, which served as the operational headquarters of the Wismar district council in times of crisis, was auctioned off and extensively renovated in 2004.
