Stock Photo - 29 August 2022, Saxony, Jesewitz Ot Wöllmen: At an elderberry plantation of Obsthof Wöllmen in Jesewitz, employee Sylke Roßberg and Polish harvest helper Martin pour large elderberry cones from a bucket into fruit crates lined with foil. Despite a lack of water, this year it was possible to harvest good quality elderberry cones of above-average size and uniform ripeness from around 400 elderberry bushes grown in tree form. The berries, which are rich in vitamin C and potassium and about six millimeters in size, are then processed into juice, wine and jelly. The fruit farm was founded more than 30 years ago by fruit grower Dieter Dottermusch as a private fruit farm. His son, master fruit grower Jörg Dottermusch, is to take over the farm.
