The German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) awards the German Environmental Prize every year in recognition of achievements that have contributed or will contribute in the future to the protection of the environment, climate, species and resources. The environmental prize is endowed with a total of 500,000 euros. This year, it goes to Friederike Otto, a climate scientist from Kiel who works in London, and to Dagmar Fritz-Kramer, a timber construction entrepreneur from the Allgäu region.
