Stock Photo - 29 September 2022, Saxony-Anhalt, Dessau-Roßlau: In the ""Hugo Junkers"" Museum of Technology, honorary managing director and former commercial pilot Gerd Fucke of the Förderverein Technikmuseum Hugo Junkers e.V. stands at the replica of the first all-metal airplane in the world, a J1 from 1915. The airplane, which did not go into series production, was rebuilt by the members of the Förderverein only from overview drawings and detail photos using tin can sheeting. It is one of the special exhibits dedicated to the aircraft designer and entrepreneur Hugo Junkers (Hugo Junkers born February 3, 1859 - died February 3, 1935). The museum, which opened in 2001 on the site of the former Junkers aircraft factory, is run by the Förderverein Technikmuseum ""Hugo Junkers"" e. V. (Hugo Junkers Technology Museum Association). It has around 200 members. Of these, 40 volunteers work twice a week in various working groups to maintain and further develop the museum.
