The load of the previous bridge over the Havel Canal had already been downgraded to 16 tons due to its corrosion and stress cracks. After completion of the new steel superstructure, a temporary bypass will be built to the south of the bridge, along with ramps and abutments. The next step will be to move the new bridge superstructure, which was fabricated at the fairground site, into the temporary bypass.
