Stock Photo - 31 May 2019, Saxony-Anhalt, Marienborn: Walk-in light poles stand in the memorial site of the German division Marienborn. There were a total of 12 lighting poles on the site. Each of them had an output of up to 8,000 watts and was supposed to enable a glare-free and shadow-free handling of border traffic. The former border crossing point was the largest and most important checkpoint on the German-German border and was mainly used for transit traffic to West Berlin. Opened in 1974 and covering 10,000 square metres, the covered checkpoints of the former truck, car, veterinary and customs checkpoints are now part of the memorial site.
