The CVR and the University of West Bohemia have built a research centre worth Kc2.6bn in Pilsen focused on research of nuclear fusion and materials. The centre is one of the most modern in Central Europe. A total of Kc2.3bn of the total investment have been provided by the EU. The centre has been built within a five-year project called Sustainable Energy SUSEN. Its infrastructure has been created in Rez near Prague and in Pilsen. It focuses on the safety and lifespan of nuclear technologies, development of 4G reactors and fusion reactors. A total of 250 people, including 20 foreign researchers, are engaged in the project.
