These countries are members of the Board of Trustees. The Second World War ended in Europe on 08 May 1945 on this spot with the German Wehrmacht's unconditional surrender. This is the only museum in Germany with a permanent exhibition dedicated to the war of extermination against the Soviet Union. The exhibition pieces of the former Capitulation Museum form the foundation of the exhibition. The museum was opened at the historic place of surrender on 10 May 1995.
