Stock Photo - Hundreds of people met in Prague's Wenceslas Square (photo) this evening, on Friday, March 16, 2018, to demonstrate for an early election to be held in Slovakia as a way out of political crisis, and a 500-strong rally demonstrated in the Moravian capital Brno. The demonstrations were originally called to protest against the Slovak cabinet of Robert Fico (Smer-Social Democracy), but Fico resigned, together with his cabinet, on Thursday, which is why the participants in the Czech rallies but mainly in towns across Slovakia set an election as their new goal. After Fico's resignation, the new Slovak cabinet is being formed by the three parties of the outgoing government. The organisers of the Prague protest said a trustworthy government can only arise from an early election. The demonstrators also demand an independent investigation of Kuciak and his girlfriend.
