(ACTP) in Schoeneiche, Germany, 08 April 2015. The natural habitat of the Spix's macaw is the Caatinga in the North-east of Brazil. Since the year 2000 the species has been extinct in the wilderness. Only about 90 birds of the species exist worldwide. Together with the Brazilian government the organisation ACTP tries to build up a population of the Spix's macaw that can survive in the wilderness to repopulate the species in their natural habitat. This is roughly planned for the year 2021. Photo: Patrick Pleul/dpa | usage worldwide. - Schoeneiche/Brandenburg/Germany
