Preparatory work related to the construction of the Temelin nuclear power plant in the South Bohemia Region is proceeding at a rapid pace. Currently, the rubber plant building, the joint operations of the substation, two storage halls and the operations building are being completed. Earthworks for the construction of the main concrete centre, sewage and storm water drainage system and hard soil blasting are continuing. The plant kitchen and canteen with a capacity of 700 lunches and dinners has been commissioned and will cater for 1,400 diners when supplemented with additional equipment. For the accommodation of the nuclear power plant builders, there is an emergency hostel for 170 people, the Vltava hotel hostel (pictured) in Ceske Budejovice, which can accommodate up to 700 people in double and triple rooms, and other hostels with more than 1,080 beds.
