Stock Photo - Pier 39 is a shopping mall and tourist attraction built on a pier in San Francisco, California. It was developed by entrepreneur Warren Simmons and opened on October 4, 1978. The pier is located on the edge of the Fisherman's Wharf district and is close to North Beach, Chinatown and the Embarcadero Freeway. The area is easily accessible via the historic F market tram. The facility houses numerous shops and restaurants, a video room with 3D virtual reality projections, street entertainment, a marine mammal study center (the Marine Mammal Center) and the city aquarium (Aquarium of the Bay). California sea lions can also be seen lounging on the piers specially built for them so as not to interfere with port activities all around Pier 39. San Francisco (USA), September 21st, 2015.
