Stock Photo - PRODUCTION - 01 August 2023, Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg: A kestrel waits in an aviary of the wild animal reintroduction station of Magdeburg Zoo for its release. For over 70 years, Magdeburg Zoo has been raising young wild animals and caring for sick animals so that they can then be released back into the wild. Without exception, the zoo takes in found animals of native species that may not be hunted. Mostly small birds are found and brought to the reintroduction station because they often fell out of the nest in the chick stage or the first flight attempt was unsuccessful. About 60 percent of the birds are released back into the wild. Photo: Klaus-Dietmar Gabbert/dpa. - Magdeburg/Saxony-Anhalt/Germany
