Stock Photo - PRODUCTION - 04 August 2022, Bavaria, Erlangen: The Erlangen pond keeper Peter Oberle illustrates the water level (60 centimeters) evaporated by heat on remaining marks on the monk (a drainage device) in a drained and dried carp pond. Oberle recently had to fish out the pond because the water level had dropped 60 centimeters. The shallow depth would have made it relatively easy for herons to prey on small carp. The weeks of drought are also causing problems for carp pond keepers. The carp ponds have lost a considerable amount of water and in some cases have already had to be emergency fished out because the fish lack water.
