He regularly organizes large beach cleanups on the volcanic island of La Palma with volunteers and the support of the authorities. Tons of driftwood and especially plastic are collected. In his small workshop in Las Indias near Fuencaliente, the artist Díaz transforms metal scrap and other affluent waste into expressive animal sculptures like this fish, whose body used to be the tank of a moped.
