Stock Photo - PRODUCTION - 16 December 2021, Saxony, Flöha: Felicitas Radeck checks different seed stocks of deciduous and coniferous trees in a cold store at the Flöha state nursery. The seed harvest in Saxony's forests this year has caused the forest massive losses of important tree species. Affected are red beech as well as pedunculate and sessile oak, which had not formed any fruits. The cone pickers were more successful with other tree species. For example, almost 5.2 tons of cones were harvested from silver fir, another hopeful tree for forest conversion. They are now processed in the seed kiln in Flöha. From these, around one million young trees could be grown over the next three years. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa-Zentralbild/dpa. - Flöha/Saxony/Germany
