Stock Photo - PRODUCTION - 21 November 2023, Saxony, Oschatz: In a special exhibition at the City and Scales Museum, director Dana Bach is holding an almost 80-year-old Santa Claus made of felt with a beard made of flameproof absorbent cotton and a painted cardboard face in her hand. Alongside absorbent cotton angels, pine cone gnomes and a absorbent cotton Santa Claus on ice skates, the historic Santa Claus is one of the traditional figurative festive items that were produced in a factory for dummies and Christmas tree decorations in the small town in northern Saxony from 1888 to 1958. The diverse Christmas figures made of non-flammable absorbent cotton and natural materials not only adorned Christmas living rooms in Germany but also overseas. In addition to the Christmas decorations, historical lanterns can also be seen in the exhibition until the end of January 2024. Photo: Waltraud Grubitzsch/dpa. - Oschatz/Saxony/Germany
