Stock Photo - PRODUCTION - 27 July 2023, Saxony, Seiffen: Tire turner Jörg Weber splits tire animals from a turned spruce tire in the historic lathe at the Seiffen Open-Air Museum. The workshop, which has been preserved in its original state, was built between 1758 and 1760. Weber is one of the few toy makers who still master the art of tire turning. Using various turning irons, a profile is turned into a spruce blank, which only reveals the shape of the toy animals when it is split open. Seiffen, which is a tourist destination in the Ore Mountains due to the production of nutcrackers, pyramids and incense smokers, especially in the run-up to Christmas, also courts visitors in the summer with its open-air museum. In the facility, the living and living conditions of the toymakers and other craftsmen of typical regional professions are vividly demonstrated. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa. - Seiffen/Saxony/Germany
