Until it was blown up in 1945, the bridge over the lock was a so-called swing bridge. When it was rebuilt, it was constructed as an elevated bridge with ledges nailed on instead of steps. The small town on the Müritz-Elde waterway is a ""state-recognized climatic health resort"" and lies in the middle of the Mecklenburg lake district. The towns and villages in the Mecklenburg Lake District are preparing for the start of the vacation season at Easter. The number of guest arrivals and overnight stays in the Mecklenburg Lake District increased again in 2022, but has not yet returned to pre-Corona levels.
