Starlings are in the Netherlands during the cherry harvest, harmful wild and therefore they may be shot. Almost always the dead birds are thrown away, but owner of The Pronckheer Arjan Smit wants an end to this waste of food. Starlings is now a very tasty regional dish. The taste is similar to that of partridge, said Smit, and is thus a true delicacy. For a dinner there are per person around six to seven starlings required.
