Stock Photo - The Amela hydroelectric power plant, pictured on May 29, 2023, commissioned in 1977, is Tussa's second largest power plant. Pictured is the plant's chief executive, Sindre Kvangarsnes. Normal production is 132 GWh per year. As part of the upgrade, the replacement of the control system will be completed in June 2023. The Amela power plant is a dam power plant that generates energy from water in the natural catchment area of the Amela River, located 500 metres inside the Amelfoten mountain in Dalsfjorden in the municipality of Volda. Dam power plants have water storage tanks so that the amount of water is regulated according to need. This means that, unlike unregulated river power, wind and solar power can be produced when the customer needs it. (CTK Photo/Libor Sojka)
