In 1951 the cathedral bell towers were deliberately destroyed by Soviet artillery and the building itself was given to the Spartak sports club. In 1993 the building was returned to the Catholic Church and since 1997 it has been renovated. Minsk (USSR today Belarus), September 11th, 1990.
