Stock Photo - The historic view from King Henry's mound, located in Pembroke Lodge Gardens in Richmond Park, London. The view from the beauty spot is set to be compromised by a new skyscraper which is currently under construction and is slowly merging in to the skyline behind St Paul's Cathedral, one of London's most majestic landmarks. The mound is traditionally thought to be the spot where King Henry VIII stood on 19 May 1536 to watch a rocket fired from the Tower of London signalling that his wife Anne Boleyn had been executed for treason, thus enabling Henry to marry his third wife Lady Jane Seymour. The St. Paul's view has been faithfully preserved by generations of landscapers who have created a tree-framed sight line from the mound to St Paul's 12 miles away. The view is supposed to be protected by the Greater London Authority's special planning requirements limiting construction within or adjacent to the sight line.
