In 2018, at the age of 19, he was detained by the Russian secret services in Belarus and then secretly transferred to Russia, where he was accused of terrorism. He was in Russian captivity for two years (2017 - 2019). On the left, Volodymyr Zhemchugov, Hero of Ukraine (2017), has been a member of the guerrilla movement in his native Luhansk region since 2015. After a short stay in a hospital in occupied Luhansk, he was detained and held in prison for two years (2016-2017), where he was systematically tortured by his Russian jailers.
